Only the pilots could 'eject': the supporting crewmembers had to leave manually through a special hatch and wouldn't have much chance of surviving in an emergency.

There are a few of these that fly over Boston at 22-29k feet once and a while on the way to/from Halifax and parts unknown- but you can hear this thing for a good 3 minutes before/after its overhead... its insane!

I first saw the Lancer at Farnborough in 1982 and thought it was the sexiest aircraft I had ever seen...and still do! Great video of a great aircraft and a dedicated crew who do their country and service proud!

It is fitting really, the weather for these dates 80 years ago was full of energy and heavy cloud and wind. Reliving history in fact.

At 2:58 that is me and to this day I can't believe it happened or that afterwards I was able to make a coherent comment like that. In the USA I've flown on the B-17, B-24, B-25 and B-29 but a ride in one of our own Lancs was something very special.

I watched this, 8 years old at the time, and still remember it so clearly.

I remember going to Yeovilton on the Saturday and Portsmouth on the Sunday to watch the flypast

That is an incredible variety of aircraft!

My Grandfather was in the RNAS during WW1, the earliest days of aircraft carriers. Although they were amalgamated into the RAF after WW2, the RNAS were still represented here in 1994.
